Jack update

Hi, everyone! I thought it would be fun to give you guys a little glimpse into my world...

These are the words that Jack can now say:
mama
dada
ball (ba)
book (boo)
dog
kitty (tee tee)
bear
duck
nana
pasta
pizza
milk
more (mo)
please (peese)
poopoo (gross, I know)
cheese
football (boo ba)
all done
piggy
no
tv
knee (nee nee)
nose (no)
bee
bird
banana (badee.... where he came up with this pronunciation, I have no idea)
paper
tree (learned this one at Christmas time)
pretty
hippo (po)
bye bye
up
down

I am sure there are more, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. (Marcia, did I miss any?)

He knows these body parts and can point to them:
head
eyes
ears
nose
knee
toes
belly

He will wave bye bye to you about 50% of the time. The other 50% he will wave after you leave :) He also knows how to shake hands. He knows that pointing the remote at the tv will turn it on. He can unlock doors, but can't open them quite yet (thank goodness!), and turn on and off light switches if he can reach them. If he is hungry, he will go to his high chair and push it around. Also, if you ask him if he is ready to go get clean, he will go to the gate outside of our bedroom to take a shower. He offers his feet to put on socks and shoes and his arm to put on a sweatshirt or jacket. He will also lift his arms up to take on or off a shirt. When you say "let's go byebye" he will go to the door. Once the door is open, he will go outside, walk to the car, and try to open the door. He can give kisses and hugs. We are working on washing his hands.

He has 8 teeth, four on top and four on bottom. He has a mohawk. He is right around 28 lbs.

He is 17 months today and is so cute and so smart and I just love him to pieces!

Firsts!

Jack took his first steps on September 18, his 13-month birthday. He still thinks it's faster to crawl, but one of these days he will figure it out, and off he will go! I can't wait! I keep trying to encourage him to walk independently, and he does great when I hold his hand. I am trying to walk him to the car instead of carrying him, so hopefully one day he will get the message.

I have been working with Jack on brushing his teeth lately. I will admit, I have had trouble remembering in the past because he does only have 2 teeth, but I know good habits start early, so now when I brush mine in the morning, I brush his. He LOVES to hold the brush after I finish and he mimics me, moving it up and down in his mouth. The toothpaste is berry flavored, so I know he thinks it tastes good. It is pretty much the cutest thing ever.

We gave Jack his first haircut today. His little hairs were getting so long and his head got so sweaty, that we finally had enough, and gave him the cutest little mohawk ever! He is so handsome now.

Happy Birthday, Turkey!

Happy Birthday to the best friend, father, husband a family could ask for! I ask myself every day what I would do without you... As cheesy as it is, you complete me. I love you more than I can ever say!
