Firsts!

Jack took his first steps on September 18, his 13-month birthday. He still thinks it's faster to crawl, but one of these days he will figure it out, and off he will go! I can't wait! I keep trying to encourage him to walk independently, and he does great when I hold his hand. I am trying to walk him to the car instead of carrying him, so hopefully one day he will get the message.

I have been working with Jack on brushing his teeth lately. I will admit, I have had trouble remembering in the past because he does only have 2 teeth, but I know good habits start early, so now when I brush mine in the morning, I brush his. He LOVES to hold the brush after I finish and he mimics me, moving it up and down in his mouth. The toothpaste is berry flavored, so I know he thinks it tastes good. It is pretty much the cutest thing ever.

We gave Jack his first haircut today. His little hairs were getting so long and his head got so sweaty, that we finally had enough, and gave him the cutest little mohawk ever! He is so handsome now.

Happy Birthday, Turkey!

Happy Birthday to the best friend, father, husband a family could ask for! I ask myself every day what I would do without you... As cheesy as it is, you complete me. I love you more than I can ever say!

I know, AGAIN?!

I just had to share Jack's first birthday party invitation! So cute!!!

Long time, no blog.

I know, I know, I'm a bad blogger. So, since it is a new month (AUGUST ALREADY!?!?!?!), I will do my best to be better from here on out. Until then, I will just do a quick recap of July.
Mama turned 24!
We tried pink bows in our hair.

We took our birthday party spot for a test drive.

We shared cups.

Our Uncle Justin came to visit from San Diego
We had so much fun playing with the pots and pans.
We got tired waiting for our delicious lunch from the Squeeze Inn (http://thesqueezeinn.com )

We learned to stick out our tongue!

We went to the mall and ate our first taquito!

We drove down to Sunnyvale to cheer on Mama's work in the OB Softball Tourney 09!

We were EXHAUSTED and sunburned after our fun day!

We got lots of tickles and giggles in.

We took lots of fun baths because boys are STINKY!

It's not my fault.

Honestly, Jack wanted to wear only his monster truck pajama shirt, a diaper and his awesome new skull shoes. He told me so. What kind of mother would I be if I picked out those clothes?

The Zoo

Jack and I had a great day today. We went over to Steph, Ryan and Sophie's house to meet up with Erin and Amy, and then all of us went to the Sacramento Zoo. It was really fun, there were a lot of school kids there at first, but they all cleared out around lunch time. We were able to see all of the animals with the exception of the Snow Leopards and the Hyenas. I think next time we need to go early to make sure they're awake. It was pretty warm, and all the big cats were sleeping. After we saw everything at the zoo, we went across the street to the park and ate a picnic lunch. Then, once lunch was done, and the kiddos had a chance to play for a minute, we headed into Fairy Tale Town. I had never been there before, so it was fun for me and for Jack. In terms of fairy tales, he has the best name. He is in like 6 of them! The upside was it was 3:00 (they close at 4), so there was hardly anyone else there. The downside was it was getting hot and we were all tired. Luckily I only hit a wee bit of traffic on my way home, and now Jack is taking a much-needed nap. All in all, a very fun day.
Jack and I at the zoo.
I don't know what fairy tales have pirates in them, but we there was a pirate ship.

Chub-a-lub

Jack and I visited Daddy at work today. As you can see, Jack had some delicious black beans for lunch.
I also got the chance to weigh Jack today. The chunky monkey weighs 21 lbs 15 oz! That is 15 ounces he gained in just 2 weeks! Almost a pound!

Guess what Jack and I did yesterday?

We sat outside in the 90+ degree heat, waiting to be rescued.
Thank goodness Marcia had a key to my house, and was able to come let me in to get my keys. I don't know what I would have done. I do know what I will do this weekend, though, is go get a key made and hide it somewhere in front of my house....

Things we did in the month of May

We learned to STAND!!!!

We kicked back at the Sacramento Zoo.

We learned how to turn the Playstation on.

We hung upside down at Downtown Tuesday Nights.

We learned how to crawl in and out of the dog kennels.

We took lots of naps.

We were attacked by birds.

We waited patiently for Jack to drop his snack.

I cut all my hair off and LOVE it!

We learned how to eat real food by ourselves.

We got stinky and took lots of baths.

  • We also decided on a date for Jack's first birthday party. It will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009. Time and location and all other details have yet to be worked out, but save the date!

  • Some of the foods Jack now eats: yogurt, string cheese, tomatoes, cantaloupe(musk melon, if you ask Alton Brown), honeydew, yogurt melts, puffs, nacho cheese, french fries, sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, butternut squash, apples, pears, tofu, red bell peppers, olives, Cheerios, applesauce, baby cereal, avocado. I'm sure there is more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

  • The latest stats: 21 lbs even, 27 3/4 inches long, head 18 inches around

  • Lewis and I continue to work, work, work. He, of course, works way more than I do, and I can't wait until we win the lottery, so I can quit my job. (No offense, Outback, you have treated me very well.)

  • Lewis's softball team made it to the playoffs in their division, so next Monday, Jack and I will go out and cheer them on!
